Halloween Mummy Cookies

Delightfully spooky cookies decorated to look like mummies, perfect for Halloween festivities.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vanilla buttercream frosting
  • Candy eyes for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well combined.
  6. Scoop and Shape: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake the Cookies: Bake in your preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Cool Time: Let them cool on the baking sheet for around 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Decorate with Frosting: Drizzle the vanilla buttercream frosting over the cookies in a swirly pattern.
  10. Add Candy Eyes: Place two candy eyes on each cookie before the frosting sets.
