Vampire Donuts with Marshmallow Fangs

Delightfully spooky Vampire Donuts topped with rich chocolate glaze and whimsical marshmallow fangs, perfect for Halloween.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Up to 3 cups more flour (as needed)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2–3 tablespoons warm milk (for glaze)
  • Mini marshmallows (for fangs)
  • Dairy-free chocolate chips (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and yeast. Mix dry ingredients well. Add warm milk and beaten egg. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough: Add softened butter and continue adding flour until dough pulls away from bowl. Knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Let the Dough Rise: Grease a bowl, place dough inside, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Donuts: Punch the dough down, roll out to about 1 inch thick, and cut out donuts. Place them on a floured parchment-lined sheet.
  5. Let the Donuts Rest: Cover lightly with a towel and allow resting for another 30 minutes.
  6. Fry the Donuts: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Prepare the Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and warm milk until smooth.
  8. Glaze the Donuts: Dip the tops of cooled donuts into the glaze, letting excess drip off.
  9. Make the Fangs: Cut mini marshmallows in half diagonally to create fangs and position on glazed donuts.
