Old Fashioned Peach Jam

A delightful homemade peach jam that captures the sweetness of summer, perfect for spreading on toast or enjoying straight from the jar.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of ripe peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1 package of pectin
  • 1/2 cup of water

Instructions

  1. Prep your jars by sterilizing them in boiling water for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the peaches by peeling and chopping them.
  3. Combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and lemon juice in a large pot and let sit for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Add pectin and mix well, allowing it to sit for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Check for doneness by placing a spoonful on a cold plate.
  7. Jar the jam into sterilized jars, filling to 1/4 inch from the top.
  8. Seal jars in a hot water bath for about 10 minutes and let cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, ripe peaches. This jam can be enjoyed on biscuits, yogurt, or even in desserts.
