A timeless blend of juicy beef, melty cheese, and caramelized onion, all nestled between two slices of perfectly toasted rye bread.

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onions by slicing them into thin rings and caramelizing them in a skillet.
  2. Season the ground beef generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes per side, adding cheese in the last minute.
  4. Assemble the patty melts with caramelized onions between the slices of buttered rye bread.
  5. Grill the sandwich until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
