Cozy Brown Butter Apple Blondies with Easy Caramel Drizzle

  • 1 cup (227 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (110 g) light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar (for caramel)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream (for caramel)
  • 2 tbsp (28 g) butter (for caramel)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for caramel)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, for caramel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and browned butter together until creamy.
  4. Add the room-temperature eggs and vanilla extract, beating until just combined.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the wet ingredients.
  6. Fold in the diced apples gently.
  7. Pour the batter into a lined 8×8 inch baking pan.
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool the blondies in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Make the caramel by combining brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter in a saucepan until smooth, then remove from heat and add vanilla and salt.
  11. Slice the blondies and drizzle with caramel sauce.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert; can add nuts for extra texture.
