Baked Apple Donuts

Delicious baked apple donuts infused with tender apples, warm cinnamon, and a dash of nostalgia, perfect for fall.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup applesauce or apple butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped apples (optional)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the applesauce (or apple butter), egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and fold gently until just combined.
  5. Fill each donut cup about ¾ full with the batter.
  6. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the donuts in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. Coat each donut in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while warm.

Notes

These donuts can be customized with various toppings, and you can also freeze them for later enjoyment.
