Incredible BBQ Pulled Pork (Slow Cooker)

A tender and flavorful BBQ pulled pork recipe made effortlessly in a slow cooker, perfect for any gathering.

  • 34 pounds pork shoulder (Boston butt)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pork shoulder by trimming excess fat, patting it dry, and rubbing it with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Sauté the sliced onions in olive oil until translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Mix the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
  4. Load the slow cooker with the sautéed onions, pork shoulder, and sauce; add salt and black pepper.
  5. Set the slow cooker to low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  6. Shred the pork when tender and return it to the slow cooker to soak in the sauce.
