A delightful and refreshing twist on traditional lemonade, featuring the sweet flavor of California golden figs balanced with tart lemon juice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 ounces California golden dried figs
  • Long strips of peel from 1 lemon
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan and heat over medium-low, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the sliced figs and lemon peel, and simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve.
  4. Stir in 1 cup of lemon juice to the fig syrup.
  5. Add 4 cups of cold water to the mixture and adjust sweetness to taste.
  6. Serve the lemonade over ice, garnished with a lemon slice or whole figs if desired.

Notes

Adjust lemon juice or syrup for desired sweetness. For a fizzy twist, use sparkling water instead of still.
