  • 1 can Crushed Tomatoes (about 28 oz)
  • 2 cups Brick Cheese (or a combination of whole milk mozzarella and mild cheddar)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Stir well to combine.
  3. Make the Dough: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Form the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Make the Sauce: Open the can of crushed tomatoes and season.
  7. Prepare the Cheese: Shred the brick cheese or mozzarella and cheddar.
  8. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  9. Shape the Dough: Gently punch the dough down, transfer it to a greased baking pan, and press it into the corners.
  10. Second Rise: Cover the dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  11. Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread the sauce over the dough and layer the cheese on top.
