Classic Bruschetta

A timeless Italian appetizer bursting with fresh flavors, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Roma tomatoes (1 1/2 lbs), diced
  • 1/3 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for tomato mixture)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 baguette
  • 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for bread)
  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • Balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Tomato Mixture: Start by dicing your Roma tomatoes into small cubes—about 1/4 inch works well. Toss them into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the Flavor Elements: To the bowl with your diced tomatoes, add the chopped basil, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper. Toss gently.
  3. Prepare the Baguette: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice your baguette diagonally into about 1/2-inch thick pieces. Brush one side with the remaining 3 tablespoons of olive oil.
  4. Toast the Bread: Pop the baking sheet in the oven and toast the bread for about 5-7 minutes or until it’s golden and crispy.
  5. Assemble with Love: Top each slice with the marinated tomato mixture.
  6. Finish with Parmesan: Sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese over each bruschetta slice and drizzle balsamic glaze if using.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Arrange the bruschetta on a platter and enjoy with friends!

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating different herbs or cheese variations. Serve fresh for the best taste.
