Classic Bruschetta

A timeless Italian appetizer featuring fresh tomatoes, basil, and garlic served on toasted baguette slices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Roma tomatoes (1 1/2 lbs), diced
  • 1/3 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for tomato mixture)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 baguette
  • 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for bread)
  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • Balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Start by dicing your Roma tomatoes into small cubes—about 1/4 inch works well. Toss them into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the chopped basil, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper. Give everything a gentle toss and let marinate for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice your baguette diagonally into about 1/2-inch thick pieces.
  4. Brush one side of the bread slices with the remaining 3 tablespoons of olive oil and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Pop the baking sheet in the oven and toast the bread for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  6. Once the bread is done, top each slice generously with the marinated tomato mixture.
  7. Sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese over each bruschetta slice and drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
  8. Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and enjoy!

Notes

For variations, try adding fresh mozzarella, avocado, or red pepper flakes for a twist.
