Homemade Apple Pie Caramels

Delicious and nostalgic caramels infused with the warm flavors of apple pie, perfect for sharing or savoring.

  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by lining an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Reduce the apple cider in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it’s about 1 cup.
  3. Combine the reduced cider with granulated sugar and whisk until dissolved.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream while whisking continuously, then keep stirring until the mixture bubbles gently.
  5. Cook the caramel until it reaches 240°F to 245°F, stirring frequently.
  6. Add the vanilla extract once the desired temperature is reached.
  7. Cool the mixture in the prepared baking dish for a few hours until set.
  8. Cut into bite-sized squares once completely cooled and wrap in wax paper if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Avoid refrigerating to maintain texture.
